Meadow - autumn olive

Order: Rosales
Family: Elaeagnaceae
Genus: Elaeagnus
Species: E. umbellata

Characteristics:
small tree or shrub
leaves - alternate and longer then their width, waved margin. silvery in spring then turn more green, bottom lighter then the top.
flowers - clustered 1-7 together in the axils, 4 lobed pal yellowish corolla
fruit - oval, druping, silvery scaled orange then red dorred with silver or brown.

adaptations
invasive, mostly open spaces, not dry
planted for wildlife habitat
food - birds and small mammals
